HORRIFYING: Chris Weidman Suffers Career Ending Injury at UFC 261 as His Leg Snaps
Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered a horrific leg break against Uriah Hall at UFC 261. The two middleweights engaged in a rematch, having fought earlier in their careers. But the ending of the fight was horrifying, and one might question if we have seen the last of Weidman inside the Octagon.
‘The All American’ came out looking to land leg kicks on ‘Primetime’. However, the first kick he threw snapped his leg in half. Upon witnessing that, fans might get flashbacks of Anderson Silva’s leg break against Weidman at UFC 168.

It’s tough to see someone like Weidman, or any fighter suffer an injury like this. Given his age and the gruesome manner in which his leg snapped, it’s highly unlikely we will see the great middleweight back in action inside the Octagon again. Hall was classy in his post-fight interview and offered to rematch Weidman if the latter ever returned to the sport.
Weidman was looking to build on his win against Omari Akhmedov in 2020. Hall, on the other hand, fought Silva in his last fight. Both fighters entered UFC 261 on the back of wins, and fans were in for a treat. Unfortunately, the realities of combat sports came to the fore.
What’s next for Uriah Hall after winning against Chris Weidman?
The contest officially ended officially at the 17th second of the very first round. Now, Hall will seek a fight against contenders at the top of the division next. He is currently on a four-fight win streak since losing to Paulo Costa at UFC 226 in 2018.
He has now finished three of his last four fights. A knockout of Bevon Lewis at UFC 232 was followed by a decision win against Antonio Carlos Jr. He followed up those wins with a T/KO finish of ‘The Spider‘. Hence, he is certainly in line for a big fight next, but it remains to be seen whether the former middleweight champion, Weidman returns.
It’s unusual for someone to recover from such an injury, especially at 36 years of age. So, it won’t be surprising if that was the last of ‘The All American‘ inside the Octagon.
