How Much Did Zion Williamson Get From His Deal With the Jordan Brand?

New Orleans Pelicans’ sophomore Zion Williamson is one of the most electrifying young players in the league. Even before his draft, Zion was one of the most hyped college prospects in recent history.

In the limited time he has played for the Pelicans, the 20-year-old has been simply unstoppable. Currently, he is having one of the best seasons a sophomore has ever had, averaging 27.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Zion’s deal with Jordan brand

Shoes deals have become a stable in the NBA right now. All the top players in the league, be it LeBron James or Damian Lillard, are signed by some of the top brands like Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas.

Zion’s talents were well documented before he was even drafted. His electrifying dominance in college basketball certainly attracted many brands’ attention.

It was Nike’s Jordan brand which ultimately prevailed in a deal with the young star. The star reportedly signed a 5-year contract worth $75 million in 2019.

This was by far one of the biggest rookie contracts ever signed, second only after LeBron James. Given the odds the Knicks had before the draft lottery, Zion could have had a larger contract had he had signed on with the brand before the lottery was announced.

Zion Williamson launches first signature shoe

While many talented players play in the NBA, only a handful have a signature shoe of their own. Zion recently became a part of the select group with a signature shoe of his own.

A couple of days ago, the 20-year-old released his very first signature show named the Jordan Zion 1. He has now joined players like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul with signature shoes under the Jordan brand.

Zion has been as advertised. With his unstoppable drives to the basket and his massive frame, he has become one of the most dominant players in the league. The Pelicans will hope that he can continue to progress in the same path.

Can the 20-year-old Williamson become the face of the league soon?
