Colby Covington Says Nick Diaz Will Not Make a Comeback

UFC 261 was a successful event for the company. It marked the return of fans to the UFC arenas in the States for the first time since March 2020. The PPV saw the likes of Colby Covington, Jake Paul, Nick Diaz, Tom Brady, Machine Gun Kelly, and more mark themselves present in attendance.

After the show, Colby Covington joined Submission Radio, where he talked about the potential for Nick Diaz to come back. Covington said, “Diaz being in attendance big deal, you know. I am not gonna believe that he wants to fight until he gets locked in a cage again.”

Covington continued, “So everybody knows he’s come back for a cash grab he is washed up so I don’t even know why we are still talking about that guy anymore.”

In the post-fight press conference, Dana White confirmed that Diaz was present to discuss something, and the UFC President revealed he was open to working with the MMA legend.

The History between Nick Diaz and Colby Covington

‘Chaos’ previously claimed that he was set to fight Nick Diaz back in 2018 at Madison Square Garden. He said, “I signed to fight him in Madison Square Garden two years ago you know he was going to sign and then he backed out last minute. So you know that’s an easy money paid to check.”

Nick Diaz fought Anderson Silva in the last fight of his career back in January 2015. That fight was ruled as a no-contest, as both fighters tested positive for banned substances. The former has been away ever since and is now 37-year-old.

Diaz is a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who loves to outwork his opponents. He likes to put an unmatched pace on his opponent while they eventually break or gas out. Meanwhile, Covington is a cardio king who has a wrestling background, but he is comfortable on his feet as well.

The 31-year-old Covington is a hungry contender at the top of the division. Meanwhile, Diaz has won no matches since 2011. Hence, this fight looks highly unlikely for the time being.
