Lakers’ Dennis Schroder Points To Chemistry Problems as Anthony Davis and LeBron James Aim For Full Recovery

The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling right now. Since February, the Lakers have either been without LeBron James or Anthony Davis, as the star duo has had their injury concerns.

Davis went down in February with a calf strain that initially seemed benign but kept him out for two months. Whereas, James suffered a high ankle sprain against the Atlanta Hawks after the All-Star break and is yet to make his return.

D-Schrod calls for more chemistry in the Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers guard Dennis Schroder believes this has impacted the team negatively. Schroder spoke to the press recently and noted that the Lakers need to address their chemistry concerns. With the long-awaited return of Anthony Davis and the impending return of LeBron James, the Lakers need to have a conversation. Schroder believes that the team will be okay, but a conversation is absolutely necessary to ensure success.

“I think when Bron comes back we’re going to have a conversation as a team. Because our chemistry, like AD said, off the court is great, but on the court, we’ve just got to turn it up some more. We’re going to be fine, but in the meantime, we’ve still got to get wins.”

Schroder’s comments echo the sentiments of fans and analysts. During the long absence of James and Davis, the Lakers had to learn to play without them. Furthermore, the Lakers made buyout signings like Ben McLemore and Andre Drummond.

Therefore, the return of James and Davis will have to bolster the chemistry of the team, especially with the new players. Drummond and McLemore will receive significant minutes, with the former already becoming a starter for the team.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James need to return to form soon

AD made his return last week against the Dallas Mavericks. He only played 15 minutes and scored just 4 points on 2-10 shooting. However, this can be attributed to rust.

Time away from the court in the NBA is always a detriment to any player, even one of the quality of AD. However, he, along with LeBron James, will have the final stretch of the season to recover form and build chemistry with teammates.

Which seed will the Los Angeles Lakers secure in the playoffs? Currently, the Lakers are hanging on to the fifth seed in the Western Conference. However, they may want to make a final push in the coming weeks, as a lower seed will only make their chances of reaching the finals tougher.
