Line of Duty series 6: Did Chris Lomax slip up to reveal he’s OCG in episode 6?

Line of Duty fans turned detective once again during another gripping episode on Sunday night, and they think they’ve spotted something that could incriminate Chris Lomax.

The Detective Sergeant, played by Perry Fitzpatrick, has come under suspicion from certain viewers throughout series six before and now they believe they’ve found evidence he’s a bent copper.

It came during one telling scene on Sunday, when Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) headed to the industrial unit to check on developments in the investigation into Gail Vella’s murder.

Reddit user u/ross-stew shared a theory after the scene aired, and the findings could have major ramifications for his character.

‘During the telephone call Chris Lomax was on before Steve and Kate approached him at the industrial unit, Chris finished the [call] by saying “meet you at the red lion at 8pm”,’ the user wrote.

‘Isn’t this the same pub Carl Banks boasted about the murder of Gail Vella before he was killed? Might be a OCG [Organised Crime Group] meeting ground.’

While it wasn’t a phone call, but a conversation with one of the forensic team on the scene, Chris did indeed mention the Red Lion.

It’s the kind of detail that showrunner Jed Mercurio likes to leave scattered in the series, and with the pub playing a key part in the early stages of their investigation, it feels like a very intentional inclusion.

If the pub is indeed a notable spot where the OCG like to operate from, it doesn’t bode well for Chris that he’s a regular.

Could it be a key piece of information? Or is it just another red (lion) herring?

It’s not the first time Chris has been suspected by fans. Viewers previously spotted him on the pin board at AC-12 suggesting there’s more to the character than we thought.

Could he be another rotten apple in the service, or does it mean he’s undercover with AC-12? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, fans have been spotting clues after Sunday’s episode and there are plenty of theories ahead of the upcoming finale.

Viewers are convinced that James Nesbitt’s character Marcus Thurwell is still alive after spotting what they believe to be a key detail in episode six.

They were also left shaken after DCI Patricia Carmichael (played by Anna Maxwell Martin) tapped her pen on the table four times during last night’s episode, leaving them convinced this means she’s ‘H’.

Line of Duty concludes on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
