It’s taken years but it seems Line Of Duty series 6 will finally pull the trigger and reveal H’s identity – as the action-packed final trailer promises chaos among AC-12.

In the first look at the final episode, which will air this Sunday, DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) look like they have finally cracked the case – shooting a look at Superintendent Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) after spotting a spelling error on the word ‘definite’.

Viewers are already well aware that H – who is still to be identified – has been known to spell the word ‘definate’.

With this key piece of information locked and loaded, it seems the team are finally on their way to finding out the truth.

Meanwhile Jo Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) is being transported in a police van, and appears to be on edge with her connection to the OCG exposed and her life continuously in danger.

In an armed stand-off in the final seconds of the clip, titles on the screen ominously promise: ‘Every investigation has led to this.’

The words then melt away to leave behind the H.

When the trailer ends, Arnott and Fleming both have their guns raised in a police stand-off… but the real question is, who with?

The team have already taken down several members of the OCG throughout the series run – though more and more people within Central Police seem to have a tangled connection to the illicit crime group.

In last week’s episode six, Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) was shot dead in a stand off with Fleming, having been groomed into the gang from a young boy to do their bidding.

It was suggested that Marcus Thurwell (James Nesbitt) – a retired police officer – was behind the criminal activity, having played a hand in several high profile cases including a child sex ring.

The murder of Gail Vella (Andy Osho), an investigative reporter, brought in the murder investigation team, and it was uncovered that Vella had got too close to the truth regarding the operation, as well as it’s attachment to the racially motivated death of Lawrence Christopher.

But in another bitter sting, Thurwell appeared to be dead with the Spanish police invaded his house, and Hastings’ time is running out as he is forced into retirement by AC-9 – led by the cold Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin).

Carmichael seems intent in stopping AC-12 in their tracks, but is there more to her motive than appears?

Will Hastings be able to solve the biggest case of his career before he’s pulled from the force permanently?

Only six more days to wait…

Line Of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
