“No-Brainer”: Andy Murray Contradicts Novak Djokovic, Says There Is a Need For Vaccination

Former World No.1 Andy Murray last played at the ATP Rotterdam Open 2021. He lost to Andrey Rublev in the quarters there and hasn’t been on the court since then. However, he hopes to return to the court soon before the Wimbledon Championships 2021.

In a recent interview, Andy Murray highlighted that there is a need for vaccination of all the tennis players. He reflected that if players wish to avoid staying in the bubble, they should support the vaccination drive.

“If you want to avoid having to be in a bubble for too long, you need to then support the vaccination, because you can’t just say, ‘No we want to just live normally and we don’t want any bubbles but we also don’t want to be vaccinated’. It’s a no-brainer to me,” said Murray in the interview.

Murray’s statements came after Novak Djokovic recently expressed his opinion on vaccination. They seem quite contradictory to the Serbian’s remarks as Djokovic mentioned that it should not be mandatory for players to get vaccinated.

“It isn’t much fun going and staying in the bubbles… And, because it’s been going on for a while, it’s a bit tiring. And I know for some of the Aussie players, they’re looking at nine or 10 months away from home because if they go home they have to do two weeks in a hotel,” added the British player.

Murray is right now preparing to stay in the city center hotel for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships 2021 along with the other players. Even though he wishes to stay out of the bubble, he agreed that he would accept the norms.

“Obviously I would way rather not be staying in a hotel. It would be a shame but, if that’s what we’ve got to do to keep everyone safe, then that’s what we’ll do,” concluded the 3-time Grand Slam champion.

Andy Murray has performed brilliantly at the Wimbledon Championships so far in his career. He has won two Wimbledon titles and the third can be on its way this year. Will Murray be able to beat the odds, regain some form, and succeed at the Wimbledon Championships 2021?
