Steph Curry is playing the best basketball of his career. Curry has been on a marvelous run for the Golden State Warriors this past month. Despite not having Klay Thompson to carry the load with him, he has looked unstoppable this season.

The man who revolutionized the NBA game is on a tear right now. And his ability to make shots from anywhere and make it look easy has caught the eye of many, including Lakers legend Jerry West.

Jerry West praises Steph Curry

Los Angeles Lakers legend and current LA Clippers executive Jerry West gave an interview recently. He talked about the importance of superstars in the NBA, and he believes that it is the superstars that drive the direction of the NBA.

While All-Star players can garner interest, it is the superstars that do the heavy lifting. He gave the example of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, and how he continues to make the impossible look easy.

West said, “One of the things that superstars do, they seem to attract the attention of people. They draw more people. If you’re an All-Star, you’ll have a few fans. But the emphasis in this league is so much on the talent of these players, unique talent that they have, but the way they play the game. You watch Steph Curry, who’s like an oddball in today’s game because of his ability to make shots from anywhere and his incredible accuracy and the joy he has the game.”

Curry continues to defy expectations

West is obviously very familiar with Steph Curry since he served as an executive for the Golden State Warriors from 2011 to 2017. He joined the Warriors just two years after they drafted Curry. During that time, West was crucial in surrounding Curry with players like Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant as the Warriors began a dynasty.

For the season, Curry has been averaging spectacular numbers, with 31.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. Currently, he is on track to best his 2016 unanimous MVP numbers. Curry has been sensational this year, carrying the Warriors single-handedly as Klay Thompson has been out for the entire season.

Curry has forced himself into the MVP conversation with his performance this past month, going on an absolute tear. While he may not win the MVP due to the Warriors’ position, but he has definitely made a strong case for himself.
