WOW! Khamzat Chimaev Brutalizes Heavy Bag in Training as He Prepares for Emphatic UFC Return

UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev took to social media and shared a video grab that sees him violently assault a heavy bag. ‘Borz’ is back to full-time training after spending several months on the sideline due to maladies. Chiefly, he contracted COVID-19 towards the end of 2020 and continued suffering from its after effect many months after testing negative.

However, he’s clearly back with a vengeance, and if the recent training footage is any indicator, he’s looking better than ever. Chimaev’s movements appear to be crisp and well oriented, and it’s a positive sign to see that his power is still intact. Some fans wondered if Khamzat Chimaev would return in full force and he’s emphatically slammed any detractors.

Khamzat Chimaev: On the comeback trail

The Swedish-Russian fighter is arguably the most affected UFC combatant due to COVID-19. In recent interviews, Chimaev detailed the harrowing details of his struggles that included severe fatigue and coughing up blood. Not to mention, things got much worse when he attempted to return to training despite not making a proper recovery.

Khamzat Chimaev’s struggles led him to the verge of near retirement, however, he’s since retracted his stance. Although he’s lost quite a bit of momentum, a few spectacular performances will get him right back to the top. MMA is a ‘what have you done for me lately?’ sport, and it won’t take much for him to regain his footing.

What’s next for ‘Borz’?

Chimaev will be hoping to secure a marquee fight upon returning as he’ll looking to make a massive splash. ‘Borz’ was slated to fight Leon Edwards, who was the number three ranked contender despite not being ranked himself. While the fight eventually fell through, a win over ‘Rocky’ would have made him next in line for gold.

There are plenty of match-ups out there that will help to propel him back to a favorable position. Furthermore, considering that he’s also willing to oscillate between middleweight and welterweight, this opens even more doors. Fans will be on the lookout to see which elite UFC contender will be matched up with the Chechnyan wolf.
