Conor McGregor Fulfills His $500,000 Donation Promise-but It’s Not Towards Dustin Poirier’s Foundation

Conor McGregor is one of the highest-paid athletes not only in the UFC but in the sports world. ‘The Notorious’ commands a hefty paycheck every time he steps into the octagon. This has allowed him to enjoy the finer things in life. And has also allowed him to give back to the community and support causes that he believes in.

During the pandemic, McGregor stepped up his philanthropic efforts. In his home country of Ireland, he helped out multiple local businesses. Most notably, ‘The Notorious’ bailed out a Straight Blast Gym franchise in Ireland that was about to shut down due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Conor McGregor takes a sly dig at Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier were recently involved in a spat online regarding the $500,000 donation promised by Conor McGregor towards Poirier’s charity ‘The Good Fight Foundation’. Leading up to their fight at UFC 257, McGregor stated that he would donate half a million, as he felt a responsibility to give back to the community.

However, earlier this month, Poirier revealed on Twitter that his team never received the amount from McGregor. This ensued an ugly war of words between the two men on Twitter. ‘The Notorious’ stated that he never received a plan as to how the money was going to be utilized and therefore the donation was never made.

Recently, Conor McGregor made the news once again, but this time in a positive light. The Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana stated on Instagram, “Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana received an unexpected call last week and are humbled to share that @thenotoriousmma is donating $500,000 to impact youth in South Louisiana by supporting our upcoming 2021 Summer Camp and ongoing health and recreation activities in our 6 Club sites. This investment is a gamechanger! Thank you, Conor, for helping to ensure that our kids have what they need to grow and thrive this summer”

The Boys and Girls club of Arcadiana is involved in the growth and care of children from vulnerable houses and communities. It is based in the same region as Dustin Poirier’s charity ‘The Good Fight Foundation’.
