Jay Z has shared his pearls of wisdom about fatherhood, explaining why he’d much rather give his children ‘love’ than his billion dollar business empire.

The 99 Problems rapper is father to three children; Blue Ivy, nine, and three-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, who he shares with wife Beyonce

It seems becoming a dad has changed Jay Z’s attitude towards wealth as he reveals he values family over money.

In an interview with The Sunday Times Style, the Grammy-winning rapper explained: ‘[Family] is your foundation. Feeling loved is the most important thing a child needs, you know?

‘Not “here’s this business that I’m going to hand over to you, that I’m creating for you”.

‘What if my child doesn’t want to be in music or sports? I have no idea, right? But as long as your child feels supported, and feels loved, I think anything is possible.’

The rapper went on to reveal how he and Beyonce used the coronavirus pandemic to bring their family closer together with both spending more time at home as opposed to jetting around the world for work.

‘In the beginning it was time for everyone to sit down and really connect, and really focus on family and being together, and take this time to learn more about each other,’ Jay Z revealed.

‘And then, as it wore on, it’s like, “OK, all right, what is the new normal?”… If anything came from this, it’s that we have to recognise that we’re all connected. It’s a metaphor for how connected we are.’

In March, Jay Z, 51, was revealed to be hip hop’s first billionaire following the sale of half of his Armand de Brignac champagne brand to LVMH. That deal was valued at around $640million (£461m) boosting the rapper’s net worth to $1.4billion (£1bn), up from $1m (£720,000). .

That’s not even including Beyonce, 39, who is estimated to be worth an eye-watering $400m (£288m) in her own right.

The Brown Skin Girls singer shares the same sentiments about family as her husband, as she explained to British Vogue in October: ‘I truly cherish this time with my family, and my new goal is to slow down and shed stressful things from my life.

‘I came into the music industry at 15 years old and grew up with the world watching, and I have put out projects nonstop.’

Beyonce and Jay Z have been spotted spending quality time together recently, including a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary.
