Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro speaks out about domestic violence arrest: ‘Thank you to my real friends who haven’t betrayed me’
Jersey Shore’s Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has spoken out against recent domestic violence allegations made against him.
The 35-year-old was arrested Thursday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of intimate partner violence with injuries and with priors.
According to an LAPD spokesperson, the reality star was taken to Van Nuys jail before being released that night on $100,000 (£72,000) bail.
Ronnie’s ex-girlfriend Jen Harley, with whom he shares a three-year-old daughter, was not involved in the incident.
On his story Ronnie wrote that he was ‘grateful for all of my real friends’.
‘I take all experiences as lessons,’ he continued. ‘You learn who really cares about you when your [sic] down and out and than [sic] you see who doesn’t! But I guess they call it the weeding process.
‘Thank you to my real friends who haven’t left my side and haven’t betrayed me.’
When he was arrested his lawyers told TMZ: ‘We have just learned of the new allegations against Ronnie and need some additional time to further investigate. As such, we will not be making any other statements at this time.’
Ronnie is currently on probation as part of a plea deal in a previous domestic violence case involving Harley.
In May 2020, he pleaded no contest to one count of domestic battery and one count of resisting arrest, and was ordered to 36 months probation, 30 days of community service, and to donate $20,000 (£14,000) to a women’s shelter.
It can be a violation on probation to be arrested while still on probation, and Ronnie could face revocation proceedings.
Ronnie was part of the original cast of Jersey Shore, alongside Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Jennifer ‘JWoww’ Farley, Pauly D, Vinny Guadagnino, Sammi Giancola, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and Angelina Pivarnick, when the show premiered on MTV in 2009.
