Jon Jones Parts Ways With First Round Management After 11 Years

Jon Jones has been one of the most prolific MMA performers of the last decade. Bones has been the UFC lightweight champion and has successfully defended the title a mammoth 11 times. During Jones’ journey to UFC greatness, his management team was always with him through everything.

Although now the two parties have parted ways, First Round Management took to Twitter to announce the same, “After an 11-year journey as @JonnyBones management team, First Round Management and Bones have amicably decided to part ways. We are proud of him and the work we’ve done. We wish him the best going forward.”

Later, Bones confirmed the news himself, as he reposted the tweet on his Instagram account. Along with the post, Jones wrote about the journey and thanked the management team.

“It’s been an absolutely amazing journey. Thank you so much for all the memories and business ventures. Wishing the Kawa family and everyone over at first-round management many blessings moving forward. Glad to be able to call you guys friends for life.”

Jones has achieved much success in the UFC since being with First Round Management. The management company has represented some of the top names in the sport, including the likes of Jorge Masvidal and Demetrious Johnson.

What next for Jon Jones?

This announcement comes in the midst of a very interesting phase of Jones’ career. The former UFC light heavyweight champion is all set to make a move up to the Heavyweight division. Jones was all set to make his heavyweight debut against UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Although, the fight is in jeopardy, as the UFC and Jones have been involved in a very public dispute over the fight fees. White had recently claimed that Bones had asked for $30 million for his fight against ‘The Predator.’

Jones however took to Twitter and completely denied the same, “I never discussed wanting 30 million with you or Hunter @danawhite just wondering where you heard that number? Is someone speaking with you on my behalf or…”

Now whether White is right or Jones is, we do not know, but one thing is for sure, if Jones ends up signing a deal with the UFC, it won’t be with First Round Management at his side.
