Saturday Night Live viewers were surprised to learn that tech mogul Elon Musk would be serving as a host on the show, and it seems some of the cast are just as shocked.

It was recently confirmed that Elon, 49, would take on his first-ever TV hosting gig on the famous sketch show, with Miley Cyrus as the musical guest on May 8.

Taking to Twitter to share the news, the Space X founder wrote: ‘Let’s find out just how live Saturday Night Live really is.’

This led to several of the cast members seemingly sharing negative responses to the news on social media.

Bowen Yang, who has been a staff writer on SNL since 2018, posted a cryptic frowning emoji on Instagram before he then shared a screenshot of Elon’s tweet and wrote: ‘What the f*** does this even mean?’

Elswhere, Aidy Bryant – who has been a regular on the show since 2012 – shared a tweet from Bernie Sanders, which fans believe might signify her disapproval of the hosting decision.

The tweet calls out the ‘absurd’ fact that ‘the 50 wealthiest people in America today own more wealth than the bottom half of our people’.

Meanwhile, Andrew Dismukes who is also a writer-turned-actor on the show – wrote in Instagram: ‘Only CEO I wanna do sketch with is Cher-E Oteri’.

This is in reference to Cheri Oteri, who was a regular cast member on SNL between 1995 and 2000.

Elon has previously made appearances and cameos on the likes of The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and Iron Man 2.

The Tesla CEO, who is estimated to be worth $177 billion, is the latest host in a season that has included the likes of Dave Chapelle, Adele, Nick Jonas, Jason Bateman, and Regé-Jean Page.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out on the night.
