GB News has teased that it’s going to be on the way very soon, with Andrew Neil’s TV channel sharing an update on its upcoming launch.

Earlier this month, GB News’ attempt at launching its website resulted in disaster, as several people who tried to access it were led to a page that said ‘site can’t be reached’.

While the website now appears to be working, the channel is most likely hoping to have better luck when it goes live on TV, revealing that its ‘test signal’ is up and running.

In a new tweet, GB News wrote: ‘We’re hard at work building Britain’s News Channel.

‘Our test signal has just gone live on Freeview and YouView channel 236. If you can’t see it, you may need to retune your TV.’

Some Twitter users said they were able to access the test signal right away, although others experienced difficulties, with one person saying that they had an ‘invalid channel’.

While a fixed date hasn’t been set yet for the premiere of GB News, with the only information given being that it will be at some point in 2021, this is surely a sign that it will be coming in the very near future.

In addition to Andrew as chairman, GB News’ presenting line-up includes Simon McCoy, who recently left BBC News after nearly 18 years; former Sky Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallacher; ex-ITV News presenter Alastair Stewart and The Sun’s Dan Wootton.

It’s been rumoured that Piers Morgan will be hired for the channel following his dramatic departure from Good Morning Britain.

However, despite Andrew expressing interest in Piers’ possible appointment, an announcement hasn’t been made.

Speaking to BBC News about Piers’ GMB exit in March, Andrew said: ‘It’s a real problem now for ITV that they’ve lost him. The programme this morning was much more run of the mill, low key, kind of ordinary, so it’s going to be difficult for them to replace him.’

He added: ‘Piers would be a huge asset to GB News and we’ll definitely look at that.

‘We haven’t started any negotiations yet but we would certainly be delighted to talk to him if he’s up for it.’
