Lauren London has recalled how she considered quitting acting for good following the death of her boyfriend Nipsey Hussle.

Nipsey, real name Ermias Asghedom, died in March 2019 at the age of 33 after being shot in Los Angeles, California.

Since then, Lauren – who has son Kross from her relationship with Nipsey – has remained mostly out of the spotlight, only emerging for a handful of projects related to honouring the late rapper’s memory.

She’s now resuming her career with a role in Michael B Jordan’s new blockbuster Without Remorse, but it could have been different if Lauren decided to quit Hollywood.

Speaking to Essence about her return to work, the 36-year-old explained: ‘Getting back to work was more than just being anxious because I wasn’t working.

‘It was really a stand on, will I work again? Do I want to work? Who am I now? Is this where I still belong? Do I still hold space here? Should I?’

The actress revealed that it was Jordan who reached out to her ‘as a friend’ about signing on for Without Remorse and even he was ‘so unsure if [Lauren] was going to ever work again’.

The ATL star added to Entertainment Tonight: ‘And he was like, “Look, I’m unsure if this is what you want to do, but I have to follow my intuition, I have to ask you if can you just read the script”.’

It was Lauren’s children, including eldest son Kameron who she shares with ex Lil Wayne, that pushed her to keep going.

She recalled: ‘We can’t stop, you know? We do have a purpose, all of us, and it’s important for my sons to see me moving forward with grief, not just curling up in a ball, because I curled up in a ball for a long time.’

Lauren added that she wanted to set an example for Kameron because he’s ‘a little more aware’, adding that Nipsey ‘would have wanted’ them to move on.

Earlier in April, Lauren marked the second anniversary of Nipsey’s death.

She shared a photo of the rapper and explained that grief and healing have been ‘constant companions on this journey’.

‘You are missed deeply. You are loved immensely. You will forever be. I love you eternally. Your Boogie,’ she concluded.

Nipsey was shot and killed outside his Marathon clothing store on March 31, 2019.

Eric Holder has been indicted on counts of murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges. He has pleaded not guilty and awaits trial.

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse is set for release on April 30 on Amazon Prime Video.
