WATCH: Andy Ruiz Jr. Avoids Severe Injury While Training for the Chris Arreola Bout

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. is ready to make a statement to the world yet again. The heard-hitting fighter will return to the ring this weekend against Chris Arreola in a must-win fight. But ‘The Destroyer’ could have injured himself before he even entered the ring.

Ruiz goes into the fight on the back of an incredible body transformation. The former champion has lost almost 30 lbs going into this bout, and looks much leaner and stronger. However, this could have cost him dearly, given the training Ruiz Jr. took up.

Recent training footage of the 28-2 boxer showed Ruiz Jr. taking part in a strength workout circuit. After doing a set of landmine press, Ruiz Jr. moved onto a unique exercise where he had to throw a medicine ball at a wall and then do a burpee.

However, the video showed the ball missing Ruiz Jr.’s face by inches on multiple occasions. Despite this, everyone around ‘The Destroyer’ seemed relaxed, and thus, it appeared as though this was all calculated.
