‘WWE is Now Mixing With Boxing and MMA’- Jake Paul

Jake Paul appeared in an interview with Ariel Helwani recently. ‘The Problem Child’ knocked out Ben Askren in the main event of the Triller fight card just over a week ago. He was also in attendance in Jacksonville, Florida, last weekend, to watch the UFC 261 pay-per-view.

The YouTuber turned boxer has certainly made some noise with his antics inside and outside the boxing ring. When asked if he has exceeded his own expectations of how much buzz he can create in combat sports, Paul recognized how fast his popularity is growing. He even added that he is creating a unique blend of  boxing and MMA, just like WWE.

Um, you know, I knew I knew it was gonna get to this point, I just didn’t think it’d be this fast. You know, it’s sort of taken even me by storm. And, man, it’s like, people just keep on feeding into it. So people are so mad at what I have going on, but then they just keep on feeding into it,” said Paul.

“So it’s like just this snowball that’s rolling downhill and compounding and it’s, it’s pretty crazy to see. But it’s entertaining. And look, I think that combat sports needed some spunk. And it’s almost like the WWE is now mixing in with boxing and MMA,” he further added.

Jake Paul created some buzz at UFC 261 too

‘The Problem Child’ was present in the arena as UFC 261 went down last weekend. Paul’s presence caused the fans and even Daniel Cormier to react. The crowd was giving ‘The Problem Child’ some stick as they chanted some abuses against his name. He even got into a confrontation against former two-division UFC champion, Cormier.

He is certainly doing the right things to get under the skin of people and make some noise in the process. This might be compared to a typical pro-wrestling heel persona. So, one can understand where his WWE reference comes from.

How long he can merge it to the sports of boxing and MMA, remains to be seen.
