Aston Martin F1 Reveal Key Reason Behind Vettel’s Pace Deficit to Stroll
Getting used to the car in Formula One is the most important thing. A driver needs to extract the most of out the car to get the results he aims for. Sebastian Vettel might not have gotten the start he wanted. But the team principal of Aston Martin, Otmar Szafnauer, thinks Vettel has gotten used to the new machinery.
The four-time world champion is still figuring out his new machinery. Vettel hasn’t scored his first F1 points yet with the Silverstone-based team and is hoping to get used to the car to quickly earn some points.
Szafnauer suggest Sebastian Vettel still needs to sync in with the car
At the Emilia GP press conference, the Aston Martin boss said, “He’s driven different powertrains, so a little bit with driveability but I think we’re on top of that now. Just overall car feel and balance.”
Lance has driven our car for a few seasons now and he knows exactly what to expect and the way the car behaves is much different than what Seb has been used to, but he’s getting on top of it,” Otmar concluded.
The German aims for a clean race at Portugal
Vettel will aim to finish the Portuguese GP without any incidents and even aim for some points in the process. He is also optimistic about handling the car around the circuit and looks forward to it.
As quoted by PlanetF1, Vettel said, “I think Portimão is a good place to aim for a clean weekend. The circuit is a high-speed autodrome; very smooth, and with plenty of gradient. It’s fun to drive, and I think it’ll be a good place to get a better handle on the limits of the AMR21.”
“I know I’m yet to get the maximum from the car but the fact that we understand that is another good reason to keep pushing,” Sebastian explained.
The four-time world champion would be looking to bounce back and find his old form at Portugal. The Silverstone-based team hopes that Vettel will extract the maximum out of the car in the upcoming Grand Prix.
