Coulthard Names the ‘Only Thing’ That Can Deny Verstappen and Red Bull F1 Title

Max Verstappen is an exceptional driver on the current Formula One grid. The Dutchman has proven that time and time again. Hence, former Red Bull driver, David Coulthard suggests that only racing gods can stop the 23-year-old.

Verstappen should his true form in the opening round in Bahrain, by taking pole position. However, it wasn’t meant to be as Lewis Hamilton stole his victory by defeating him.

Imola was Max’s chance at redemption, and he did exactly did. The Dutchman was starting third on the grid but soon took the lead by overtaking, Hamilton. Verstappen brought home the first win for himself and for his Milton-Keynes squad.

Coulthard feels only a racing god can stop Max Verstappen

As quoted by the DailyMail, Coulthard said, ”So the only thing that I think can stand in the way of Max and Red Bull Racing really taking this championship is the racing Gods maybe getting involved in a few things with reliability.”

“Because he is definitely experienced enough, he is definitely mature enough, which at 23 seems incredible but he is ready. He is more than ready,” Coulthard concluded.

Ralf Schumacher feels Verstappen can take advantage of Hamilton’s mistake

It’s not often that we see Mercedes #44 driver make mistakes, but when he does, his rivals, especially Verstappen, will benefit from them. Just like at Emilia GP, Hamilton went off track, giving the Dutchman the ability to pull away and win the race. Hence, former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher feels Hamilton can make more mistakes if pushed by Verstappen.

Speaking to Sky Germany, as quoted by PlanetF1, he said, “He has to go more to the limit to be able to keep up with Verstappen. “If you go to the limit more, then mistakes happen.”

As it stands, the driver’s championship is neck and neck between Lewis and Max. Hamilton has the lead by a single point and will hope to increase the gap in the upcoming race in Portugal.

Who do you think will win in the upcoming race, will it be the dominant Mercedes team, or will the Milton-Keynes squad take a second win of the season? We shall soon find out.
