Dragons’ Den got emotional tonight when one entrepreneur broke down in tears as she revealed she lost her brother just days before the first lockdown in March 2020.

Sharon Keegan entered the den in a bid to secure £100,000 for an 11% share in her business, Peachy Lean, from Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Souleyman,Tej Lalvani and Sara Davies.

As the businesswoman talked to the Dragons’ about the impact coronavirus had on her athleisure wear company, which sells ‘confidence in the form of spandex and nylon,’ she began to cry.

Mum Sharon revealed that she witnessed an increase in orders amid the first wave of the pandemic, however she didn’t have enough stock.

‘The reason for that was March was a very difficult time for me,’ she began. ‘My brother died two days before lockdown. He was 35.’

The Dragons were quick to offer words of comfort to Sharon as she teared up.

‘Well it’s remarkable, you’ve grown the business and you’ve gone from strength to strength and that’s great,’ Tej said.

‘I’d imagine he’d be incredibly proud,’ Peter added.

Sharon responded: ‘He’s here with me today.’

All four investors were incredibly moved by Sharon’s pitch and she walked away with both Sara and Tej making offers.

Sara pledged half of the £100,000 Sharon needed with Tej matching her.

‘Despite all the challenges you’ve had, you’ve been able to create something that will, I think, grow into a big brand,’ Tej added.

‘So I’ll be happy to share with Sara on this. I’ll offer you the other 50,000 for 10%.’

Dragons’ Den airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One.
