‘More So Than Dennis’ – Lakers’ Anthony Davis Describes What Role LeBron James Will Play After Return
The Los Angeles Lakers are desperate for LeBron James to return after losing their fourth game of their previous five. Despite the return of Anthony Davis, he hasn’t been able to provide the major boost for the Lakers that they needed. At this point, LeBron is the final piece to the puzzle and can help the team make a push in the final stretch. With less than 10 games to go, what role will LeBron James play when he returns?
AD talks LeBron return
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis spoke to the press after the Lakers’ loss to the Washington Wizards. Davis said that LeBron James will slot back into the pick and role executor position when he returns.
Because of his height advantage, James can execute a pick and roll better than Dennis Schroder. Davis also added that LeBron James and Andre Drummond would pair well together, as James can use his exceptional passing to set up Drummond.

“I think Bron is a great ball passer. So the pick-and-roll with him and Drum…I mean Bron is 6’8 so it’s an easier pass for him, more so than Dennis. I think that with Bron’s ability to come off and put a lob to Drum a lot, or hit him with that final pass, or drawing two to the ball and then the dish off…”
LeBron James very close to returning
As far as James’ return goes, Davis wants the full team to be healthy. Going into the playoffs, the Lakers need to have a fully fit and healthy lineup ahead of the playoffs.
That way they can assess what their best starting five would be. However, until LeBron James comes back and is fully healthy, the rest of the Lakers will have to help him adjust on the court on both ends of the floor during games.
“Having a full lineup where we can actually see what we actually got would be beneficial for us. But until Bron is able to get back and 100% healthy, we have to keep finding ways to make him feel comfortable on both ends of the floor.”
When will LeBron James return? According to a report from the Orange County Register, James could return this weekend.
Even ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that James would return sometime next week. So the good news for Lakers fans is that LeBron will be back in the very near future. But even the next one or two games will feel like an eternity ahead of his return.
