Outer Wilds getting Echoes Of The Eye DLC reveals Steam leak

Highly acclaimed indie adventure Outer Wilds appears to be getting some unexpected new DLC and the developer isn’t denying it.

Outer Wilds (not to be confused with the entirely unrelated The Outer Worlds) was one of the best games of 2019 but part of its appeal was that it was such a complete experience, with a highly satisfying ending.

There was no cliffhanger but the lore did leave space for a sequel, although there’s never been any hint of one, and certainly nothing about DLC – until someone discovered mention of it on the Steam Database.

All there is, is the name Echoes Of The Eye and the fact that both publisher Annapurna Interactive and Mobius Digital have acknowledged the leak is real.

Neither said anything other than posting some eye emojis on Twitter but they certainly didn’t make any effort to deny it and instead happily promoted the original discovery.

The name is presumably a reference to the Eye of the Universe from the original game, but it’s hard to guess anything else just from the title.

The references to the DLC were only added to the Steam database this week, but that does suggest that it’s going to be released relatively soon.

A Nintendo Switch version of the original game is also due out this summer, so it’s possible the DLC might be released around the same time.

If Annapurna Interactive is happy to acknowledge the leak is real, that implies they’ll make an official announcement sooner rather than later.
