Razorlight has announced a reunion of their classic line-up for a streamed concert in June, and count us in for that.

The band’s live performance, airing as a streamed one-off TV performance on June 2, will mark the first time original band members Johnny Borrell, Andy Burrows, Björn Ågren, and Carl Dalemo, have played live together in 10 years.

Speaking about the reunion, following an interview with Chris Evans on Thursday morning, Andy shared how it felt ‘incredible’ and an ‘absolute joy’ as they played their songs together in rehearsals over the past couple of weeks.

One in particular brought it home to him.

‘The emotions that were going through me when we started playing America, I forgot to play the first half of the song – it was totally nuts.’

Johnny agreed that it felt good ‘on a personal level’ as well as ‘amazing’ on a creative level.

He said: ‘As soon as the four of us are in the room, it just sounds amazing, straight away.’

Razorlight first found success with this original line-up straight off the back of their debut album Up All Night in 2004, which peaked at number three in the charts.

By 2005, they were considered enough of a draw to be invited to perform at Live 8 alongside rock royalty and music icons including The Who, Coldplay, The Killers, Madonna and Elton John.

Their self-titled second album in 2006 scored the indie band their first number one album, and first number one single with America.

The band’s third album, Slipway Fires, was the last album with all four founding members ahead of a hiatus that was only occasionally disturbed by the odd festival gig – and included a few different line-ups – before 2018’s album, Olympus Sleeping.

The Brit award-nominated band have amassed a UK number one album and single, three top five UK albums, two platinum-selling albums and eight top 20 UK singles, although there’s yet to be any talk of a new record.

Razorlight was the also first band to record a fully carbon-neutral single – Funeral Blues – in conjunction with Friends of the Earth, in 2009.

Tickets are already available to purchase online for Razorlight’s reunion gig, so best hop to it if you’re a fan.

Razorlight’s live online concert is on June 2, with tickets starting at £16.50.
