Who will replace Jon Snow on Channel 4 News? Latest odds revealed

Jon Snow is quitting Channel 4 News after 32 years and viewers are desperate to know who will be replacing him.

The 73-year-old journalist, who is the longest-running presenter of Channel 4 News, having presented the news programme since 1989, is leaving the programme at the end of 2021.

Announcing the news, Snow confirmed: ‘After three incredible decades on Channel 4 News, it is time to move on. I am excited by the many things I want to accomplish but I have to say I have enjoyed every minute of my time with the programme.

‘It has brought me adventure, as well as sorrow in some of the stories that I have had to report and also joy in reporting others, but above all, it has brought me community in working with the most fantastic group of people who are bound in intellect, humour and understanding.’

He added: ‘Together, we have forged a wonderful service. I feel proud to have contributed to Channel 4 News let alone to have anchored the programme for the last 32 years. I’m looking forward to new adventures and new challenges.’

But who’s set to replace him?

Piers Morgan is currently the bookies’ favourite to take over the reins.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter publicly threw his hat into the ring on Twitter as he jokingly acknowledged the position – and bookmakers Coral slashed its odds from 8/1 to 3/1.

Following behind Piers is Sky News presenter Kay Burley at 4/1, who was taken off air for six months after she was found to have breached lockdown restrictions for her birthday in December of last year.

Fellow Sky News star Sarah-Jane Mee is also being tipped at 6/1, alongside Channel 4’s Cathy Newman at 7/1.

Meanwhile, Julie Etchingham has odds at 8/1, Alastair Stewart is at 12/1 and ITV News at 10 presenter Tom Bradby is at 14/1 Tom Bradby.

Simon McCoy, who left BBC News after nearly 18 years last month, is also not a favourite for the role at 25/1.
