2021 NFL Draft: Twitter Goes Ballistic as New England Patriots Draft Mac Jones
The New England Patriots endured a tough outing in the 2020 NFL season. They finished the season third in their division with a 7-9 record behind the Miami Dolphins. They struggled in the absence of the legendary Tom Brady. But all that is about to change as New England snap up CFP National Champion Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Alabama Crimson Tide Football team quarterback starred last season under the tutelage of Nick Saban. Jones concluded the season as a Heisman Trophy finalist behind eventual winner and teammate, DeVonta Smith.
Jones finished his final season in Alabama throwing for 4500 yards with 41 passing TDs. He is expected to compete with veteran QB Cam Newton for a starting berth in Boston.
Is Mac the ideal successor to Tom Brady’s throng in Foxborough? Here’s what the Patriots fanbase has to say.

It’s no secret that New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Alabama’s Nick Saban share a close professional relationship. In fact, after the selection of Mac Jones, Belichick has now drafted 11 players who have previously played under the guidance of coach Saban.
Jones was previously being tipped for a potential move to San Francisco 49ers at #3 in the draft. But coach Shanahan and GM John Lynch opted to go with NDSU’s Trey Lance instead.
Many expected the Patriots to trade up for someone like Jones or Fields. But they didn’t have to anything like that. They managed to hold on to their respective picks in this year’s draft and also bring in a proven winner in the form of Mac.
Is this a win-win situation for Bill Belichick and the Patriots?

When it comes to quarterbacks, coach Belichick knows what he is doing. He helped a certain sixth-rounder by the name of Tom Brady go on to establish himself as the greatest quarterback in NFL history.
Mac Jones can sleep peacefully, he’s in great hands.
