2021 NFL Draft: Twitter Reacts to Chicago Bears Drafting Justin Fields in First-Round

There were a lot of doubts surrounding the Chicago Bears ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft. They parted ways with Mitchell Trubisky this summer and brought in veteran Andy Dalton on a 1-year deal. But they traded up from 20 to 11 with New York Giants to draft Justin Fields in the first round of this year’s draft event.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback started the offseason as the 2nd best quarterback in the Class of 2021 behind Trevor Lawrence. However, he was the fourth shot-caller to be selected in the first round after Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars), Zach Wilson (New York Jets), and Trey Lance (San Fransisco 49ers).

Fields will join coach Matt Nagy and the Bears for preseason in the coming weeks. Is he the chosen one to lead Chicago back to the Super Bowl?

New York Giants traded pick 11 to the Bears in exchange for the first-round (20th overall) and fifth-round (164th) pick from 2021, and 2022 first and fourth-rounder. They gave up a lot in order to bring in Justin Fields who had yet another productive season with the Buckeyes in 2020.

During his 2-year stay in Ohio, Fields had 5,373 passing yards to his name with 63 passing TDs to his name. He further rushed for 867 yards with 15 rushing TDs while playing for OSU. He fits perfectly into coach Nagy’s offensive system. Fields will now compete with veteran Andy Dalton for a starting berth in Chicago.
