Alan Partridge fans were thrilled with his return, as they hailed the new episode of This Time With Alan Partridge.

Series two of the BBC comedy kicked off tonight, with Steve Coogan’s alter ego getting right back to work at the helm of a current affairs show.

The first instalment saw the presenter interrupt his co-star’s marriage proposal in the most Alan way possible, complaining about the changes to the show and just being an all-round nuisance.

And viewers were living for every single second of the show’s ‘brilliant’ comeback.

Flocking to discuss the scenes on Twitter, a fan penned: ‘Love love love This Time with Alan Partridge much guffawing!’

‘I’m so glad This Time with Alan Partridge is back. Hilarious and awkward in equal measure – in particular the cracking of his knees as he did a squat…,’ a follower agreed.

‘Steve Coogan is a comedy genius,’ a Twitter user said. ‘The sheer awkwardness of Alan Partridge will always be an entertaining watch and never fails to crack me up. #ThisTime.’

A viewer commented: ‘The sheer volume of jokes in the new This Time with Alan Partridge is astounding. And they’re all brilliant.’

‘This Time with Alan partridge is perfection. If you don’t get it then you can f**k off #ThisTime,’ one suggested.

Noted.

The first series of This Time graced our screens in 2019, and viewers have been not-so patiently for his return ever since.

Spilling the beans on what we can expect from the new episodes, co-star Tim Key, aka Simon, teased we could be seeing a ‘woke’ Alan.

Yes, seriously.

When asked what made season one work so well, he told us: ‘When they told me the concept – Partridge is the emergency host for a magazine show – I think, like all Partridge fans, you just nod and wave it through.

‘It’s perfect Partridge. This slight, naff resurgence is perfect fodder.

‘He’s now in an environment with constant challenges – working out how to be woke, overthinking things, underthinking things, drowning in a more high-profile setting alongside his female co-presenter.’

A woke Alan Partridge? Bring it on.

This Time With Alan Partridge airs on Fridays, at 9.30pm, on BBC One.
