Jon Anik Reveals Why Daniel Cormier Confronted Jake Paul During UFC 261 Broadcast

Jake Paul has managed to make one of the nicest men in MMA angry. At UFC 261, we saw Daniel Cormier leave the announcer’s booth mid-broadcast to go and confront Jake Paul who had been talking about DC after DC’s public support for Ben Askren during the Askren vs Paul fight.

Jon Anik was on the commentary booth and has revealed exactly what transpired. This includes the UFC Producer giving DC 120 seconds to go do what he needs to do and the fact that he returned from the interaction without even a bead of sweat on his forehead.

“So, if memory serves me correctly, our producer gave ‘DC’ 120 seconds to settle his business. Daniel Cormier’s a fighter and, as I’ve texted DC, I like when his Louisiana comes out. It’s an interesting thing because I respect Jake Paul the professional boxer. I would like to see him boxing boxers and not the worst strikers in MMA history, per se, to do something competitive.”

Anik added, “But I’m not surprised Daniel Cormier wants to stand his ground and you’re not going to just inject DC’s name into the mix without consequences. I think he felt at peace after his conversation because he came back to the broadcast booth and not a bead of sweat on his forehead. He said his piece and felt like he needed to do that to clear the air.” (h/t MMAFighting.com)

Jake Paul knows the spotlight that DC gave him during the broadcast of one of the most exciting UFC PPVs in a while. Paul had an entire UFC crowd boo him and chant against him while a former title contender was fighting. Paul has piqued the interest of a lot of people with his antics, and getting a reaction from Cormier is exactly what he needed.

However, the fight rumors need to stop. DC may be shorter than Paul but used to fight at a weight class 80 pounds above Paul. Along with that, DC has genuine striking ability and has knocked out the likes of Stipe Miocic. The further Paul can stay away from DC in an actual fight situation, the better.
