Michael B Jordan has said ‘no award can validate’ Chadwick Boseman’s legacy after the late star was seemingly snubbed from the Oscars.
Boseman, who died last year after a battle with cancer, was up for a best actor Oscar for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
However, fans were left surprised when Sir Anthony Hopkins received the award instead, for his role in The Father.
Jordan, who starred with Boseman in Black Panther, has addressed the situation, saying: ‘This is how I honestly and really truly feel about it, there’s no award that can validate his legacy.’
He added to SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show: ‘There’s no win that can take anything away from the lives around the world that he impacted, his family, myself included, so you gotta look at the things that we can control and the gifts and the blessings that he left us.
‘And that’s this incredible body of work and what he represents for as a person.’
While Hopkins wasn’t at the Oscars, he filmed a video following his win, in which he paid tribute to Boseman.
‘Good morning. Here I am in my homeland in Wales, and at 83 I did not expect to get this award. I really didn’t,’ he said.
‘Very grateful to the Academy and thank you, and I want to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman who was taken from us far too early.

‘And again thank you all very much. really did not expect this, so I feel very privileged and honoured. Thank you.’
Boseman’s family also spoke out, defending Hopkins.
The late actor’s brother Derrick told TMZ the family aren’t upset over Chadwick’s loss as the late actor didn’t put much value on the Oscars and ‘always described them to me as a campaign’.
According to his brother, Boseman would have seen winning an Oscar as an achievement but never an ‘obsession’.
He added that every nominated actor was deserving of the coveted award.
