“Stay Tuned”- IMPACT EVP Scott D’Amore Confirms Talks With Released WWE Talents
Impact Wrestling has regained momentum in recent months with opening of The Forbidden Door. They’ve got many new wrestlers in their roster now, including former WWE Superstars. AEW World Champion is also their World Champion and NJPW’s FinJuice hold the Impact World Tag Team Titles.
Recently, WWE released ten Superstars from their roster, with the most notable names being Samoa Joe, Mickie James, and The IIconics. Impact wrestling teased the released superstars in the first look video of Slammiversary 19. And finally, they have confirmed that talks are underway!
“I think there’s an opportunity here” – Scott D’Amore on the recently released WWE Superstars
Impact Wrestling EVP, Scott D’Amore recently joined the Wrestling Perspective Podcast. There, he addressed the possibility of recently released WWE Superstars such as Samoa Joe and Chelsea Green joining the company. During the address, he also gave the example of the released talent that appeared at Slammiversary last year.
He said, “I think you look at what we did at Slammiversary last year with all the buzz, and I think there’s an opportunity here. There’s some great talent and they’ve got this hiccup in their career. They’ve got the opportunity to do like so many of the people did last year and forge new opportunities and different and in some ways better opportunities for themselves.”
Scott D’Amore also talked highly of the ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ Samoa Joe. He reminisced on signing Joe to the then TNA in 2005. He revealed it wasn’t easy to get Joe as WWE was also trying for him. But eventually, D’Amore alongside Mike Tenay got Samoa Joe to TNA.
The Impact EVP didn’t just talk about Joe, but also talked about the potential of great talents out there and namedropped Chelsea Green, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Immediately after, he subtly confirmed that the company is already in talks with some of the released wrestlers.
D’Amore said, “I just got to say, I think there’s a chance that some talent’s going to move around and you’re just going to have to stay tuned and be careful what I say, but maybe some conversations have started.” H/t Fightful
We definitely think Impact should go all-in for Samoa Joe. Having him on their roster would only mark the beginning of good things to come for the company. Of course, if they take the right creative decisions.
