Twitter Goes Crazy as San Francisco 49ers Draft Trey Lance

The San Francisco 49ers have finally put to bed weeks of speculation. NDSU quarterback Trey Lance is headed to the West Coast to become their QB1 of the future.

Lance burst onto the scene in 2020 thanks to a phenomenal season where he threw 28 touchdowns for 0 interceptions.

In 16 games that season, the QB threw for 2,786 yards on 287 attempts with a pass completion rate of 66.9%. The QB also racked up 1,100 running yards and 14 touchdowns to go alongside his impressive passing stats.

The 49ers went to great lengths to land the quarterback. The franchise originally had the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But clearly Trey Lance caught the attention of the 49ers management.

They traded their 2021 first round pick, first and third-round pick in 2022 and a first-round pick in 2023 to get up to the third spot. Now a 49ers player, we take a look at how Twitter reacted to the draft pick.

Alabama’s national championship winning QB Mac Jones was also heavily touted as a favorite for the pick. Many saw the quarterback’s accuracy and pocket presence as the reason behind the 49ers’ apparent liking for the QB.

But with Lance selected, the NDSU quarterback is now the man the franchise believes is who can guide them back to the Super Bowl.

The 49ers still have QB Jimmy Garoppolo on their roster. How they’ll manage with both QBs remains to be seen. But what is certain is that Trey Lance is the man the 49ers believe in.
