Andy Ruiz Jr. Looked Shredded at the Weigh-Ins: How Will It Affect Him in the Fight?
Later today, the Mexican-American, Andy Ruiz Jr. will enter the boxing ring against Chris Arreola for a gigantic 12-round clash. This will be Ruiz Jr.’s return to the ring after a long 17-month layoff.
While Ruiz Jr. was out of the game, he immersed himself in rigorous training sessions and even went on a weight loss program.
That said, the ‘Destroyer’ recently took everyone by surprise during the weigh-ins as he stepped on the scales at 256 lbs for this fight. This was a whopping 27 lbs lesser than what he weighed for the Joshua fight at ‘Clash on the Dunes’.

In the summer of 2019, Ruiz Jr. shook up the entire fight world when he dispatched ‘AJ’ with his astonishing power. However, the ‘Destroyer’ failed to keep composure in the rematch and ended up on the losing vertical against the sturdy Brit. Right after that loss, the 31-year-old went out of the game.
In his time away, Ruiz Jr. even changed his trainer and joined hands with the renowned boxing coach, Eddy Reynoso. Over the past few months, he’s spent countless hours in the gym to polish up the vast skill sets in his arsenal.

His weight loss will help him move swiftly and stay out of range, thus escalating his defense to another level. Also, a lighter Ruiz Jr. can be even more terrifying as he could quickly get himself into position to unload a potential fight-ending strike.
Andy Ruiz Jr. – is he ready for a world title fight?
Despite Andy Ruiz Jr. being involved in extensive boxing workouts, he certainly has developed ring rust by not competing professionally. But a fight against Arreola might work wonders, as it’ll help him ease back into life as an active professional heavyweight.
If the ‘Destroyer’ gets past Chris Arreola, he will line himself up for even bigger encounters in the future. However, a title fight might still not be on the cards, as Ruiz Jr would need to string together a series of incredible performances to make himself the no.1 contender.
Moving ahead, fans will be glued to their TV screens to see how Ruiz Jr. unleashes his shredded self against ‘The Nightmare’.
