Mike Tyson and Shakur Stevenson Agree Vasyl Lomachenko Is “Too Small” for the Lightweight Division

The boxing fans have thoroughly ridiculed Vasyl Lomachenko after he lost the lightweight titles to Teofimo Lopez in a lopsided showdown last year. Although the Ukrainian boxer is considered one of the greatest lightweights ever, many have doubted his prowess at the 135 lbs division.

It includes Mike Tyson and Shakur Stevenson, as they suggested that ‘The Matrix’ should ply his trade at 130 lbs. While Lomachenko seems eager to stage a return, Stevenson shared his opinion on the legendary lightweight puncher.

15-0 as a pro, Shakur ‘Fearless’ Stevenson, who appeared on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, reflected his opinion on the former champion.

“I would love to fight Lomachenko. I think that will be a [great fight] Yeah. Especially him coming off his loss, he is tryna prove himself. Then he would get back in the ring with another young killer,” said Shakur Stevenson.

He added, “I think he is too small for 135, I think he should come down at 130. I think 130 is more his weight.”

The Heavyweight stalwart, Mike Tyson, also agreed that Lomachenko is “too small” for 135 lbs. Hence, the former 135 lbs champion can take a note and decide to shift a weight class if needed. However, Vasyl Lomachenko hasn’t expressed such intention, and his recent training videos cite him to be targeting a return on June 26.

What’s next for Vasyl Lomachenko?

The 33-year-old ‘Loma’ has constantly demanded a rematch against Teofimo Lopez, but he hasn’t received it. Moreover, Lopez will now defend his titles against George Kambosos Jr. on June 5. So, a non-title fight can be an option for Lomachenko.

A few months back, he touted a possible fight against WBC champion, Devin Haney. Nevertheless, it didn’t turn out to be fruitful and Haney will defend his title against Jorge Linares next. So, it left Vasyl Lomachenko without a viable contender.
