‘Very Frustrating’ – Dustin Johnson Sees Scope for Improvement in His Striking

Dustin Johnson is not playing solid golf at the moment. Even though he’s World No.1, Johnson not been utterly dominant in recent events. That raises a major question in the minds of his fans: What is DJ doing wrong at the moment? Does he have to improve on any aspect of his game?

Every golf course on the PGA Tour is unique. That is what raises the challenge and sets the standard for the professionals. As for the current phase, the tour is at Palm Habor, Florida, for the 2021 Valspar Championship.

Dustin Johnson entered the tournament as one of the favorites, but he ended round two tied for 33rd place. It was evident that the 2020 Masters winner struggled at the Copperhead Course in the first 36 holes and Johnson is focused on improving his game for the weekend.

Dustin Johnson is unhappy with his performance at the Valspar Championship

Dustin Johnson failed to deliver a good score in the opening 36 holes at the Valspar Championship. While the leaders were fighting with a score of 12-under par, Johnson’s 71 and 68 in the first two rounds could not compete with that.

Following his 3-under 68 in the second round, Johnson met with the reporters where he reflected on his performance at the Copperhead Course. Johnson made four birdies in Round 2 but displayed only 53.85% driving accuracy

“Well, just trying to hit my irons solid. Yesterday I don’t think I hit a solid iron shot all day. It was very frustrating. I hit a few good wedges, but I don’t count that. But like mid iron — mid to long irons I don’t think I hit one in the middle of the club face. So a little frustrated, but today I felt like I swung it a lot better,” Johnson mentioned.

Dustin Johnson was clear with his response on how to gain places on the leaderboard. “If I can go out and play a nice round tomorrow, I can get right back in the golf tournament,” he said.

Johnson has made three previous starts at the Valspar Championship and has one Top-10 finish. Can the Florida resident improve his performance in the upcoming rounds and achieve a good finish at the Copperhead Course?
