WWE legend Kane saves chipmunk from jaws of a cat – and he’s officially our hero

WWE legend Kane showed his softer side this weekend as he saved a chipmunk from real peril.

The Big Red Machine – known as one of the wrestling world’s most fearsome superstars but now a politician serving as mayor of Knox County in Tennessee – is clearly an animal man, and he did his bit on Saturday by making sure one small rodent didn’t meet its maker in something right out of a Pixar film.

He tweeted: ‘My good deed for the day: I saved a chipmunk from the neighborhood cat. (sic)’

Of course, the internet was always going to need more details than that, and one follower couldn’t help but jokingly call out Kane – whose real name is Glenn Jacobs – for stealing the feline’s food right from off its figurative plate.

‘I knew someone would say that. “What do you have against cats?!?” Nothing, but chipmunks are cute and the cat can eat 9Lives like Morris,’ he replied.

‘And no animals were harmed. I startled the cat and it dropped the chipmunk out of its jaws.’

It all sounds very dramatic – but we’d expect nothing less from a Hall of Famer.

The former world champion was inducted last month as part of the star-studded class of 2021 alongside the likes of Molly Holly, Eric Bischoff, The Great Khali and Ozzy Osbourne.

Kane found out he was going to be honoured when The Undertaker surprised him with the news during an episode of weekly WWE web show The Bump.

Taker – his on-screen brother, long time rival and real life friend – revealed the well-deserved recognition as he said: ‘It is truly my honour to announce that you, Kane, will be the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame – the class of 2021.

‘Well deserved, much earned and couldn’t be more proud of you brother!’

Kane was visibly overwhelmed by the announcement – much like Eric Bischoff and Molly Holly after their own inductions were revealed – and he even asked if the Dead Man was ‘serious’.

‘I’m definitely serious! There’s no Hall of Fame without Kane, I can promise you that,’ he smiled. ‘You are the man!’
