Celebrities were warned not to date Jessica Simpson by their publicists after her divorce from Nick Lachey.

American singer Jessica, 40, claims she found it tough to find a man after splitting from from former 98 Degrees star Nick back in 2005.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show this week, she said: ‘I felt like anytime it started to get a little bit serious, I was the person to run from because every guy would be listening to their publicist who would be like, “stay away, stay away. You’ll never be a respected actor, you’ll never be a respected musician if you are dating her.”

‘That was back then. At least, that was the excuse I heard.’

However, Jessica dated more celebrities than her fans know about – although she isn’t willing to drop any names.

She added: ‘Well, I have dated some – a couple musicians, so. Some under the radar that people don’t know about.’

Meanwhile, Jessica recently said she doesn’t want a public apology from her former boyfriend John Mayer after he famously made widely-criticized comments about their sex life.

The singer opened up about the relationship during her appearance on Friday’s The Tamron Hall Show to promote the paperback edition of her memoir, Open Book.

The tome sees Jessica reflect on her notorious on-off relationship with John, who went on to call her ‘sexual napalm’ in a 2010 Playboy interview.

When asked by Tamron if she felt like he owed her an apology, Jessica replied: ‘No, I definitely don’t feel that I am owed a public apology. I mean, you can’t take it back.

‘And I’m a very forgiving person but I’m also honest. So, in the memoir, if I’m gonna talk about stuff that caused me pain, I’m going to be honest about it. And that was a time in my life that I was very manipulated and also in love, or seemingly.’
