Saturday Night Live’s controversial next host, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, has taken to Twitter to ask for skit ideas from his followers.

The tech billionaire, who is due to make his debut on the show with Miley Cyrus on May 8, seems to be throwing himself into his preparation.

Taking to Twitter, Elon, 49, started up a thread on the topic to take advice from his 52.5 million followers. ‘Throwing out some skit ideas for SNL. What should I do?’, the entrepreneur asked.

His fans were ready with ideas for him. One suggested: ‘Summin about THE DOGEFATHER’, referencing the meme-themed cryptocurrency.

The self-labelled ‘Dogefather’ replied with ‘Definitely’.

Another fan referenced Elon’s now infamous weed-fuelled appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast.

Earning a thumbs up emoji from the man himself in response, the user tweeted: ‘You on Joe Rogan but he progressively convinces you to take harder and harder drugs’.

Elon came to the table with his own suggestions too. ‘Irony Man – defeats villains using the power of irony’ was his first, showing that the tech billionaire, one of the world’s richest men, clearly isn’t immune to those Marvel superhero comparisons on the internet.

He also suggested: ‘Baby Shark & Shark Tank merge to form Baby Shark Tank’.

The announcement of Elon’s hosting gig, first tweeted by Miley and then confirmed by the SNL official account on April 24, provoked quite a reaction, including from the SNL cast and crew themselves.

Writer-turned-actor on the show Andrew Dismukes wrote on Instagram: ‘Only CEO I wanna do sketch with is Cher-E Oteri’. This was a reference to Cheri Oteri, an SNL regular from 1995 – 2000.

Cast member Bowen Yang also took to his Instagram Stories to comment on Elon’s announcement tweet, with a frowning emoji face and a straight-to-the-point ‘what the f*** does this even mean?’

Although a non-performer host, Elon is not without acting chops, having made several guest appearances as himself in shows including The Big Bang Theory and The Simpsons – as well, of course, as his cameo in Iron Man 2.

Next Saturday’s show will reveal if he’s ready to step beyond the part of centibillionaire (an individual with assets worth over 100 billion dollars) and into the role of relatable.

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC in the US.
