‘Getting Better Every Race’ – Hailie Deegan Registers Her Best Finish of 2021 NASCAR Truck Series at Kansas

Hailie Deegan continued her upward rise in the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series season, registering her best finish of the season in the Saturday night race at Kansas Speedway. Starting in 20th place, Deegan finished the race in 13th place after a thrilling final restart in overtime.

Since the season’s second race on the Daytona Road Course, Deegan’s results have consistently improved week after week. Prior to the 13th place finish at Kansas, Deegan’s best finish in her first full-time Truck Series season was 17th, a couple of weeks ago in Richmond.

Deegan herself highlighted the constant improvement. “We’re getting better and better every race,” Deegan wrote on Instagram.

The young driver was thrilled with her run at Kansas, a track where she feels quite comfortable. Deegan thanked her David Gilliland Racing crew for giving her an ‘amazing’ no. 1 Ford truck.

Hailie Deegan makes the most of an “amazing” truck at Kansas

“What a wild night here in Kansas! That was so much fun. It was so much going back to a race track that I’ve raced at before, just being comfortable there,” Deegan further said in a video posted on Instagram. “My guys gave me such a good truck, that truck was amazing,” she added.

A few days ago, Deegan ran a test session with her team at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The 19-year-old felt that the test session taught her a lot.

“We learned so much in our test at Charlotte and bring some of the things we learned there to here. I’m just super happy with how that turned out,” she continued.

Deegan was comfortably running inside the top-10 for most of the race after starting in 20th. This comes as a massive boost for the driver, as she will now target her first top-10 finish, after her first top-15 finish.

She rued the fact that some changes they made to the car before the final restart did not help her. However, she was thrilled with the overall result on the day. “I’m super happy with how it turned out. So, onto the next one,” Deegan concluded on the same.

Deegan will now look to bag that maiden top-10 finish next weekend itself, as the Truck Series field visits Darlington Raceway on Friday night for the throwback weekend.
