Looking at the ongoing heavyweight ride, several fans have touted Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz Jr. as a valid matchup. While both men are former world champions, there’s no denying they can lock horns to resurrect their lost dominance in the division.

Meanwhile, Andy Ruiz Jr. has rusted off his inactivity with a successful return against Chris Arreola on May 1. However, the former WBC titlist, Deontay Wilder, is yet to return from his scratchy loss against Tyson Fury in February 2020. Hence, an active Ruiz Jr. might have some advantages in the mix.

However, ‘The Destroyer’ vs ‘The Bronze Bomber’ may be a lopsided showdown. Despite all the hype and stats, Wilder can be a bad matchup for Ruiz Jr.

Standing at 6’7”, Deontay Wilder is a perfect heavyweight specimen and is one of the hardest punchers on the roster. While Ruiz Jr. will have a five-inch height disadvantage, there are much more things to worry about. In Andy Ruiz Jr’s recent win over Chris Arreola, there were some moments that had fans worried. Such moments may prove costly against ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

While Arreola had a crack at Andy Ruiz Jr and floored him, Deontay Wilder can have a crack at ‘Destroyer’ and end the fight. Although Ruiz Jr. can take blueprints from Tyson Fury’s performance against Wilder, he may not be able to pull it off as ‘The Gypsy King’ did.

Deontay Wilder hits like a truck and all he needs is one shot to bag the win. If Wilder lands one clean hit on Ruiz Jr, there’s no coming back for the Mexican superstar.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ is a rangy shooter, and his fast-paced movement turns him even treacherous. Nevertheless, Ruiz Jr. can close the gap and hit from the inside. But Wilder might be too strong for that.

It’s bizarre to write off someone’s chances in the sport of boxing. However, in a potential fight between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr, the former would remain the favorite for the obvious reasons.
