Rick and Morty creators have given fans a glimpse at a parody of Captain Planet and the Planeteers in the second trailer for season five of the show.

The Adult Swim comedy is set to return this summer following the end of season four last year.

And there are two trailers for the new instalment with the first one giving fans a look at what’s to come as well as confirming the June return.

The second promo gives a closer look at the parodies featured in the fifth season, including one of Captain Planet.

In the clip, a young girl with blue skin, green hair and a red and yellow costume similar to Planet can be seen.

Fans don’t have long to wait, with the show confirmed for June 20 in the US although a UK date is yet to be revealed.

It looks like fans are in for more epic adventures in the new episodes.

Plot details are yet to be confirmed but we do know that the new series won’t be directly addressing the coronavirus pandemic.

Makers of the show have also promised fans some ‘epic canon’ will be taking place.

One of the biggest questions still to be answered from season four came following the finale, which confirmed that Rick had cloned Beth during episode The ABC’s of Beth. Will the truth about her identity be revealed in the new episodes?

It’s not just season five that viewers can get excited about either. According to co-creator Dan Harmon, seasons five and six were worked on at the same time.

Speaking during PaleyFest NY, Dan said: ‘We are more on schedule than we’ve ever been. Everyone has to run this bee colony remotely. So the honey just gets made more consistently. It’s working for us.’

Rick And Morty seasons one to four are available on Netflix.
