‘It Will Be My Pleasure’- Jiri Prochazka Responds to Jan Blachowicz

The newest UFC Light Heavyweight sensation in Jiri Prochazka is enjoying appreciation from around the world. His latest feat caught everyone’s attention. He defeated the former title contender Dominick Reyes with a sensational spinning back elbow at their UFC Vegas 25 clash this Saturday.

He has now secured two impressive victories via knockout on the trot. He had previously bested Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251.

Current champion Jan Blachowicz too acknowledged his performance and threw a challenge at him for the title fight. He said, “Hey @jiri_bjp. Me vs you in Cieszyn. Prince vs Samurai. Sword vs Katana #LegendaryPolishPower.”

For starters, Cieszyn is a Polish town near the border of the Czech Republic. It acts as a meeting point between the two countries and hence Blachowicz asked Jiri for a fight in Cieszyn. (Since Blachowicz is from Poland and Jiri is from the Czech Republic)

Prochazka hit back at the champion, saying he is ready to fight, but first, the champ needs to defend his crown against Glover Teixeira. He said,If you defend @gloverteixeira. It will be my pleasure”

The tweet from Blachowicz created a puzzle in the minds of fans as he is expected to fight Teixeira but is calling out Prochazka.

However, the champ cleared all the clouds of confusion and said the tweet challenging Jiri was Slavic humor and he is still adamant about fighting Teixeira.

He said, “For all those who do not know the Slavic context of the previous post and its humorous nature. Of course, Glovera is the next contender. I always keep my word. #LegendaryPolishPower.”

Jiri Prochazka focused more on tough opponents than the title fight

While in conversation at the post-fight interview, Prochazka made his thoughts clear on the title opportunity. He said, “For me, it’s not these title shots and the fighting and matchmaking for me, it’s not so important to me.

“What’s important is the journey, to enjoy the tough opponents, to enjoy sharing the cage with hard opponents, and that’s why I like it. And this fight was great, but I enjoy that.”

He also appreciated Reyes‘ fighting IQ and said that he wants to learn more. Prochazka is certainly a bright prospect for UFC. To have accrued so much attention off of two fights is a true testament to his talent. What’s more, his phenomenal finish against Reyes may have set him on a collision course to take on his Slavic contemporary.
