Line Of Duty’s Vicky McClure ‘high on a list of targets’ for Strictly Come Dancing 2021
Line Of Duty’s Vicky McClure is being eyed up for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, with bosses keen to snap her up.
After the BBC drama’s sixth season finally revealed who ‘H’ is as it came to an end last night, it’s been reported that Strictly bosses are keen to sign the actress, who plays Detective Constable Kate Fleming.
‘Line Of Duty is the biggest show on telly by miles so Strictly producers would love to secure one of its stars to take part,’ an insider said.
They added to The Sun: ‘They think Vicky would be amazing and that fans would love her so she is very high on their list of targets.’
Vicky’s fellow Line Of Duty co-star Gregory Piper has also become one of the most sought-after stars for this year’s dancing competition, thanks to his star turn as twisted OCG member Ryan Pilkington.
While the celebrity contestants for this year’s Strictly currently remains under wraps, lots of big names have been thrown about, including England’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty.
Strictly is said to be considering welcoming two same-sex couples to the competition this year after Nicola Adams made show history in 2020 in the first same-sex pairing with Katya Jones.
In March, the professional dancers line-up was announced, with two-time champion Oti Mabuse on the bill as well as Anton Du Beke, the show’s longest-serving dancer who’ll be competing in his 19th series.
Strictly is said to be returning with a live audience and will also be back for 13 weeks later this year.
Reports also claim that its usual trip to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom is on the cards after being axed last series due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Metro.co.uk has approached Strictly for comment.
Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year to BBC One.
