UFC Fighter to File an Appeal Against ‘Horrible Decision’ at UFC Vegas 25

UFC Vegas 25 took place this weekend with Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka as the main event on the night. The card saw a number of good fights and finishes as well. One fight, however, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The fight between Kai Kamaka and TJ Brown on the preliminary card at UFC Vegas 25 has brought to light the incompetence of judges once again. 

The featherweight bout between the two men was an extremely exciting and close fight. Both men swung leather at each other from the very first bell. However, when the result was announced, TJ Brown was declared the winner via split decision. The decision shocked everyone, including TJ Brown and his team.

Will Kai Kamaka get the decision reversed against TJ Brown?

Following the controversial loss to Brown, Kamaka’s manager spoke to the media and made his intentions very clear about appealing to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. 

He said, “Tomorrow we will be filing an appeal for the blatantly horrible decision against Kai Kamaka. I don’t believe I have seen one media outlet that gave that fight to TJ and from what I understand even TJ and his team say they didn’t win. There is little to no recourse on these judges not being able to do their jobs properly and for a fighter like Kai who moved his entire household from Hawaii to pursue this career, it’s simply not right.”

Butler continued, “I’m not suggesting that the fight wasn’t competitive, but that doesn’t mean it was hard to see that Kai won every round of that fight. Our hope is that if they won’t overturn the decision, the commission will at least review the fight with us and explain to us where Kai lost”

Throughout the course of the fight, Kamaka was able to land more damage and, according to most MMA sites, deserved to win the fight. With such an appeal the result is rarely ever overturned unless there is actually an error in scorekeeping or reporting the scorecards from the judges.
