‘Watch Me Open Up the Arts’- Conor McGregor Posts a Strong Message Ahead of UFC 264

UFC Lightweight maestro Conor McGregor is gearing up to face a man who handed him his first career KO loss, Dustin Poirier. This fight comes as the final edition of the trilogy saga between the two lightweight behemoths. What’s more, this fight will determine who gets to claim the bragging rights over this longstanding feud.

Apart from preparing for the battle, the ‘Notorious’ one has been on a continuous rant on social media. Recently he took to Twitter and shared a video of one of his previous fights saying, “Watch me open up the arts and puck these peasants around. Starting July 10th.”

McGregor seems adamant on finding his way back to the form that saw him lay waste to the lightweight. However, he has been a far cry from the McGregor of the past, blowing hot and cold in his fights, and recording an equal win-loss ratio in his last 6 fights.

Prior to his most recent outing in the octagon against Poirier, he had recorded an impressive TKO win over Donald Cerrone in the very first round in what was his first headliner after having spent an entire year on the sidelines following his loss at the hands of the Lightweight kingpin, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The McGregor and Poirier trilogy bout will be one of the most important battles of the year. Both fighters go into this fight with a lot hanging in the balance.

In fact, Poirier even passed on an opportunity to fight for the lightweight gold in a bid to settle the score that stands at 1-1, once and for all.

In their first meeting back in 2014 at UFC 178, Conor dominated the fight and secured a TKO win in the first round itself. After that fight, Poirier went on to improve his game so much that he barely recorded 2 losses in 13 fights ahead of UFC 257.

This time, though, Poirier was relentless with his leg kicks and punches. The Irishman, on the other hand, failed to adjust to the onslaught and paid the price with a 2nd-round TKO loss.

However, the trilogy now comes to an end as both fighters prepare to go all in for one last time against each other. What’s more, with a shot at divisional gold on the line, the stakes could not be any higher. Who takes it all this time around?
