Ben Affleck roasted after woman shares video he sent following ‘rejection’ on celebrity dating app
Ben Affleck is copping it online after a woman said the star sent her a DM after she rejected him on a dating app.
A video posted by TikToker Nivine Jay is going viral this week after it seemingly showed Ben confronting her after she deleted him on star-studded dating app Raya after thinking she was being catfished.
Adding her take on a meme where people revisit moments they regret, Nivine wrote: ‘Thinking of the time I matched with Ben Affleck on Raya and thought it was fake so I unmatched him and he sent me a video on Instagram.’
She then shared a video which showed Ben, 48, asking with a grin: ‘Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It’s me.’
Well that is just horrendously awkward on both sides.
While there’s something to be said for both sliding into the DMs of someone who unmatched you on a dating app, but also sharing the private video of them doing so, it’s out in the public realm now and people are reacting with gusto.
Jameela Jamil channeled her The Good Place character Tahani, with a perfect take on it from her well-connected alter-ego’s point of view: ‘There was that one time I told my good friend Ben Affleck not to message girls on instagram and say “it’s me” like a mafia boss…. -Tahani’
Comedian Nicole Byer added on Twitter: ‘I need Ben Affleck on my podcast Why Won’t You Date Me? We can do an episode called Why did you unmatch me.’
Whitney Cummings was just peeved she’s never matched with the bloke on the elite dating app: ‘Okay I am very pissed off at Ben Affleck because we NEVER EVEN MATCHED ON RAYA. Rude.’
Insisting she didn’t post the video to make fun of the Batman star, Nivine told E! News: ‘I was making fun of myself for thinking he was a catfish and it was just supposed to be funny.’
While it’s not clear when the video was filmed, nor the legitimacy of it, Ben – who recently split with girlfriend Ana de Armas – previously made a rare comment about his dating life when he denied he was on Raya.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America last year, he said he wasn’t on any websites, adding: ‘I know people who are on them and they have a fun time, but not me. I would love to have a relationship that was deeply meaningful and one to which I could be deeply committed.’
Metro.co.uk contacted Ben’s reps for comment.
