‘Best Analogy’: Warriors Teammate Compares Stephen Curry to Mike Tyson Following Win Over Pelicans

The Golden State Warriors needed a win tonight, and they did it in style. After a disappointing outing last time, Stephen Curry rose to the occasion once again and led his team to a crucial win over the Pelicans.

Curry finished with 41 points and eight assists, while shooting an impressive 14-26 from the field. Despite the Warriors’ struggles, Curry has helped them to stay in playoff contention with his MVP-level campaign. During the post game interview, teammate Juan Toscano-Anderson praised Curry and also compared him to Mike Tyson.

He said, “If you in a street fight and you have Mike Tyson on your side, how you going to feel? That’s the best analogy I can give you. If I get into a pickle, I’m looking for him. He’s gonna make something happen.”

“I know how but to fight. But if I have Mike Tyson on my side, I’m going to have all the confidence in the world. If you got (Curry) on your team, I feel like you’re a competitor if everybody else comes and does their job.”

Having Curry on the team elevates the Warriors from a terrible lottery team like they were last season, to a playoff team who can potentially pull off a first round upset too.

So close yet so far: Can Stephen Curry finish the job for the Warriors?

Tonight’s win pushes the Warriors to the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. They will aim to stay in the eighth spot because that ensures a comfortable path in the play-in tournament. They will need just one win in the play0in tournament if they are able to win their first game. That will guarantee the Warriors the seventh seed in the playoffs.

Even if they lost their first game, they will have another chance at redemption. The Warriors will face the winner of the #9 vs #10 game. If they win that game, they enter the 2021 NBA playoffs as the eighth seed. Since it is just a one game series, they’re always a dangerous team because of Curry.

When Curry gets going, there is no defense in the league who can stop him. They can only pray he misses. So the Warriors need him to continue this form as they close out the regular season and also in the play-in tournament, so they can return to being a playoff team.
