Billy Joe Saunders’ Father Accuses Eddie Hearn of Working Against His Son

This Saturday, Billy Joe Saunders will lock horns against the stout Mexican, Canelo Alvarez. The pair will collide with each other for the unified super-middleweight championship. And subsequently, the winner of this battle will line himself up for an undisputed title fight.

This fight is unquestionably one of the best boxing bouts of 2021 as this exuberant matchup was in contention for a long time. But it seems the fight might end up in jeopardy as there are some issues faced by Saunders and his corner.

Recently, Tom Saunders, ‘Superb’s father opened up in this concern while speaking to iFL TV. He said, “There’ a few issues we’re not happy about that we got to get sorted out.

“That’s the size of the ring. Matchroom wants us to box in an 18-foot ring, and then they come back with a 20-foot ring. It was supposed to be a 24-foot ring.”

He further continued, “We’re up against everything. Eddie Hearn said that he was going to do; he’s delivered this fight, but at what cost? And he’s not working with us; he’s working against us in every opportunity,” (h/t Boxing News 24)

The southpaw Saunders is a hard hitter who enjoys using full ring space in all his fights. That said, Saunder and his team wanted a colossal ring space to maximize this opportunity and hand over a loss to Saul Alvarez. But Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom has decided to stay on a 20 ft ring, which is a substantial maximum size for a pro-boxing bout.

Will Billy Joe Saunders back off from his Saturday night bout against Canelo Alvarez?

A fight against the Mexican, Canelo Alvarez, is unquestionably the biggest test for the Brit. Until now, the latter has remained undefeated in his pro-boxing stint, but touching gloves with Alvarez is a different ballgame altogether.

Citing the same, Saunders’s pathway in the division ahead won’t be that lucrative if he pulls off from his fight against Alvarez.

Whereas, if he fights the 30-year-old and scores a win, it’ll go down as his biggest career achievement.

It’ll be interesting to see how things shape up for this clash in the coming few days.

What do you draw off Tom Saunders’ comments? Pulling off from this fight, is it worthy enough for ‘Superb’?
