Jesy Nelson quit Little Mix over weight fears as she recalls panic attack on music video set
Jesy Nelson quit Little Mix following fears about how the weight she gained in lockdown would appear in their next video.
She went on an ‘extreme diet’ before a panic attack meant she had to be axed from some scenes in the Sweet Melody promo.
‘I’d been in lockdown, and I’d put on a bit of weight but I didn’t care,’ said Jesy, 29. ‘And they said, “You’ve got a music video in a couple of weeks” and I just panicked. I went on this extreme diet, with bloody shakes, and tried to eat as little as possible.
‘On the day of the Sweet Melody video I had a panic attack on set because I didn’t look how I wanted to look and I found it so hard to just be happy.’
Back to her beaming self in Cosmopolitan, she added: ‘There’s a scene in Sweet Melody I’m not in because that’s when I had a panic attack and broke down. ‘I was sobbing, I was like, “I need to start taking care of myself because this isn’t healthy.” It wasn’t nice for the other three to be around someone who didn’t want to be there. So I took a break.’

This will change our life, says Leigh-Anne
Now a little bump has been thrown into the Mix as a thrilled Leigh-Anne Pinnock revealed she is pregnant.
Little Mix are back up to four after the 29-year-old unveiled her new figure in an emerald green gown.
It’s the first child for the Change Your Life singer and her fiancé, Watford footballer Andre Gray, also 29.
The couple became engaged last May after four years of dating.
Leigh-Anne posted on Instagram: ‘We’ve dreamed about this moment for so long and we can’t believe the dream is finally coming true… we can’t wait to meet you.’
She has plenty to juggle after recently announcing she plans to do solo stuff outside of Little Mix.
