Jesy Nelson reveals Liam Payne reached out to her after Little Mix exit: ‘It was really lovely’
Liam Payne reached out to Jesy Nelson after she announced she was quitting girl group Little Mix.
The singer said she was walking away from the group, which also includes Leigh Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, to focus on her mental health.
Liam knows a thing or two about being in a super famous pop group and then going it alone from his days in One Direction.
Jesy revealed the Strip That Down singer – among others – sent her a message offering a friendly ear as she embarks on her solo career.
She told Cosmopolitan: ‘A few band members have reached out to me. Liam Payne from One Direction was one of them.
‘He actually sent me a really nice message. Just basically saying, if I ever wanted to talk, he’s always here, which was really lovely.’
The Salute singer also confessed she feels ‘free’ after walking away from Little Mix.
She told model and friend Felicity Hayward in the issue she ‘didn’t know that I could be this happy’.
‘I thought when I was in the group that it was just normal to feel that way. And because I’d felt like that for ten years I just thought, “this is life.” Since I’ve left, I feel free,’ she shared.
Announcing her decision to quit the group in December 2020, Jesy said: There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process.
‘So after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix.
‘I need to spend some time with the people I love, doing things that make me happy. ready to embark on a new chapter in my life – I’m not sure what it’s going to look like right now, but I hope you’ll still be there to support me.
‘I want to say thank you to everyone involved in our journey. All the hard work and dedication that went into making us a success.
‘To every single fan who came to see us in concert, who listened to our songs and sung their hearts out, sent me messages and supported me along the way I want you to know I love you all so much and I could never have done this without you and I appreciate it endlessly.’
